Next Meeting – PG20 – 7pm – Monday 31st October
Friday, October 28, 2011 18:14
Hi all,
On Monday we have a meeting at 7 pm in PG20 (Palace Green, the same as last week).
We will be organising teams for the 48-hour film competition, which will take place next weekend (November 4-6). We’ll also be collecting membership fees on Monday so please bring £6 for the year or £12 for life. Every 48-hour film team will need at least 2 members, but if other people want to get involved in the competition that’s perfectly fine – the more the merrier.
Members will also receive our Society Film Script for “Night, Dawn, New Day” this week! We’ll be discussing this further in the meeting, but it’s time to start thinking about how you’d like to be involved. The roles we need filled are: Producers, Directors, Editors, and Cinematographers. If you’re unsure whether you’d like to be a specific role but would still like to be involved, we’re also looking for crew. If you know you’re interested in a specific role, please let us know. If anyone has cameras or editing software that you wouldn’t mind using for either the 48-hour film or the society film, please let us know that too.
Thanks – see you Monday

P.S. If we have time, we may be watching some clips from Troll 2, a triumph of Horror cinema, in order to get you in the mood for your post-DSF Hallowe’en parties!

Social Room Change – PG20 – 7pm
Monday, October 24, 2011 13:23
Hi everyone,
Due to confusion with the University’s room booking service, tonight’s social is going to be starting in PG20, not ER148. The rest of the evening should be the same; we’ll start at 7pm and go from there.
See you all later!

Hi everyone,
Next Monday (the 24th) is our DSF social! We’ll be watching a selection of shorts and then going to Kingsgate for free pizza. We’ll then work our way through a couple more bars before ending up in Studio.
In other news, we are looking for volunteers to film the ‘Zombiepalooza’ on Halloween (the following week). There is also a horror night on the 27th at Van Mildert – if you are interested in going, email Will Webb (william.webb@durham.ac.uk) so he knows numbers.

Freshers 2011 – Welcome to Durham Student Film
Saturday, October 8, 2011 22:22
Hi everyone,
First of all, welcome to all the new members of Durham Student Film! To all the old members, welcome back – I hope you’re all enjoying being back in Durham. Thanks to everyone who showed an interest at the Fresher’s Fair – we hope you’ll come along to the first meeting to get an idea of what it’s all about.
The first meeting will be on Monday (October 10) in Elvet Riverside 206 at 7 pm. We will be going over the upcoming events of the year and showing you how you can get involved at any level you want – from filming Durham Student Theatre events to participating in our 48-hour film competition or working on the society film. We will also be running a number of workshops in the first few meetings to teach you the basics of film-making, so don’t worry if you don’t have any experience.
We will most likely grab a drink in Kingsgate afterwards so we can all get to know each other.
We hope to see you all there!
