Monday’s Meeting & Christmas Meal
Saturday, November 26, 2011 17:19
To supplement the previous email, we now know that our meeting will be in ER140. Filming will commence at the slightly earlier time of 6:30, but feel free to turn up whenever. As usual, we will probably be going for a pint once things are “a wrap”.
We’ve also been talking about the DSF Christmas Meal, which is potentially scheduled for Sunday 4th December (A week tomorrow), and will be at either Chiquitos or Fat Buddha. It would be great to know the kind of numbers we can expect, other restaurant suggestions, and other potential dates if anybody can’t make it. Send me a message at events@durhamstudentfilm.co.uk – or write on the Facebook Event… I don’t have everyone on Facebook, so spread it around, click attending on there, post on the wall, etc.
Awesome, see you Monday!

Notices
Friday, November 25, 2011 0:16
Hi all!
First, a couple of really important notices that we need help with:
1. We are doing a promotional video for the water polo team and need someone to volunteer to film for a short period of time tomorrow at 9:30 pm (when they have their training). Please let me know if you can make it – even if you haven’t been involved in DSF yet we just need someone to help with the camera. It’ll be a really easy way to get experience with promotional videos and using the (new!) society camera.
2. On Sunday we need someone to help film Cabaret at 7 pm. You’ll get to see a great performance for free!
Please reply asap if you can help out with either of these.
At our meeting on Monday (at 7 pm, still don’t know the place, will update you soon) we will be holding a constitutional amendment vote and will be filming the ‘lecture hall’ scene of the society film.
Hope to see you all there!

Society Filming Tomorrow! CG91 – Monday 21st November
Monday, November 21, 2011 0:45
Hi everyone,
Production of the Society Film will be moving forward tomorrow night as we’ve booked CG91 (the big lecture building in the Chemistry Department) for the filming of a scene. The room is booked from 6:30pm – 9:30pm but you should contact the director (below) for more information. Things should be underway by our usual start time of 7pm.
The main cast should know who you are and have met with the director, but anyone can come along if you’re interested in seeing Durham Student Film in action, as there will be plenty of opportunity to get involved as crew or extras, and learn some setiquette. For more information, and specifics on what will be involved, contact our new Commerical Officer, Frances: frances.weetman@googlemail.com, who will be directing this portion of the film.

Supplementary Casting, EGM & Social
Tuesday, November 8, 2011 20:08
Hi,
Apologies for this being short notice, but we will be having a supplementary casting session for the Society Film, “Night, Dawn, New Day” on Wednesday 9th November (tomorrow) in DSU’s Riverside Cafe at 2:30pm. While all casting is still open, we are looking for more male actors in particular. Make sure you come along if you’re interested, and forward this message to any of your friends who you think might want a go.
We want to get all the 48-hour films up online as soon as possible, so if you want to see them on the website, upload them to youtube, send me the link and a list of credits, and I’ll see what I can do! Alternatively, you could always give them to me on a memory stick at the next meeting.
If you’re interested in where this year’s theme came from originally, check out this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1LzruO-eUU. If you were wondering where your “Four Lines” came from at the start of term… click here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=HnNQdYd7pS8#t=30s
Some of you may remember our pitching session from this week’s meeting. If anyone is interested in getting involved in Alex’s X-Men project, you can sign up to the Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/180853371978821/ to get the latest updates and info.
Nest week, we will be having an especially important meeting again on Monday 14th November at 7pm. The room will be ER140, and we will be holding an EGM to select a new Vice-President and Commercial Officer.
The Vice-President’s role is to assist the President with the overall running of the society, and take charge in the President’s absence, and the Commercial Officer’s job is to be a point of contact between the society and potential clients by managing the business side of all commercial DSF Projects.
If you are interested in running for either of these positions, email the exec about why you want the position, and prepare for a short hust during Monday’s meeting. Feel free to ask any more questions about what the roles involve.
With any luck, we’ll also have an opportunity to watch the final epic entry for the 48-hour competition, before proceedings decay into a Social! So come along to take part in society democracy and have a few drinks. As usual, we’ll hit a few bars and see where the night takes us, but to spice things up, this social will be themed, so come dressed as your favourite film character! Who knows, a hust may be decided on the quality of costume.
We’ll send out a reminder email closer to the time. Hope to see you all there! As always, we’re still trying to publicise the Durham Film Festival 2012, so make sure you tell everyone to check the website.

“You totally killed us, you evil metal dickweeds!”
P.S. Here’s Ellie’s email from last week… It’s good to have a record of these “minutes” sometimes…
Hi all,
A reminder that tonight we have our awards ceremony for the 48-hour film competition! It will take place in Palace Green 20, and we welcome everyone – bring your friends and show them what you’ve made.
At the end of the meeting we will have 10-15 minutes for people to pitch ideas for films – we’ll explain further in the meeting, but we’ll have this time every week to give people a chance to share.
We also have our casting for the society film this evening, so if you know anyone who would be interested bring them along!
See you at 7,
Ellie Onions – Secretary

48-hour Film Competition!
Wednesday, November 2, 2011 19:38
Hi all,
The 48-hour film competition starts this Friday! If you’re interested in getting involved, no matter what kind of experience you have, be in Kingsgate at 8 pm for the start, when we’ll be assigning you your individual team requirements and starting the writing process.
After the filming and editing over the weekend, we will have the awards ceremony on the Monday meeting (Nov. 7) at 7 pm. The location has not been confirmed yet – for the time being assume PG 20 because they love giving us that room these days.
Anyone who would like to try out for the society film, the casting will also take place at the Monday meeting.
See you all on Friday,
Ellie Onions – Secretary
